Audio/Visual Technician
Description
Under the direction of the Information Technology Manager, the Audio/Visual Technician is responsible for performing duties at the facility that include audio-visual set-ups and operation, solicit quotes for technical services and supervise technical services.
Responsibilities
  • Sets up and breaks down equipment before and after events.
  • Inspects, tests and modifies all equipment prior to each performance and ensures that all equipment is in working order.
  • Makes minor repairs and adjustments to audio/video equipment.
  • Reviews event agenda to determine equipment and service requirements of user groups.
  • Performs preventive maintenance on all equipment.
  • Assess Request for Quotation (RFQ) technical requirements and solicit quotes for technical services with guidance of the Procurement Department.
  • Supervise all technical service contractors for equipment and service delivery.
  • Performs other tasks as assigned.
  • Assist in assessment of event space to determine the acoustics, lighting team, visual application, networking, software applications and show production.
  • Collaborate with other technical and creative staff, such as directors, producers and stage managers, to ensure the successful execution of the A/V design.
  • Create packing lists for each tasks/events.
  • Ensures that equipment is stored in an orderly fashion, cleaned and transported safely.
  • Stays current with industry advancements and incorporating new technologies into your workflow.

  • Excellent technical skills covering audio visual applications
  • Understand small to large spaces for management in – acoustics, lighting team, visual application, networking, software applications and show production
  • Possesses knowledge in operational procedures, facility capabilities, industry terminology, event-related services, and technical requirements for the types of events anticipated at the facility
  • Ability to work with little supervision
  • Good oral and written communication skills
  • Good interpersonal and people skills
  • High levels of integrity and confidentiality
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Information Communication Technology with two (2) years’ experience in Audiovisual Technology

OR

  • Associate Degree in Information Communication Technology with three (3) years’ experience in Audiovisual Technology

OR

  • Certificate in Advanced Audio Technology with two (2) years’ experience

OR

  • An equivalent combination of education/training and experience

  • Regularly lift and/or move up to 100 pounds.
  • Work in both indoor and outdoor settings; may be subject to adverse conditions.
