Manager, Information and Communications Technology
JOB PURPOSE
The Manager – Information and Communications Technology is responsible for planning, coordinating and overseeing the development, implementation and maintenance of a modern Information and Communications Technology (ICT) system for the Montego Bay Convention Centre.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Develop specifications for the procurement of hardware/software to be purchased by the MBCC, in accordance with the Government of Jamaica procurement procedures
- Develop specifications for IT equipment and services to be outsourced for the hosting of events at the MBCC
- Supervises the Audio Visual Technician
- Oversees the management of ICT through the access and utilization of information systems such as email, internet
- Manages all software rollout and other information technology resources of the MBCC to ensure excellent products and efficient service delivery;
- Research, identify and recommend strategies to achieve the MBCC’s information and communication objectives;
- Reviews requests for technology and makes recommendations, as appropriate, on alternative system options
- Provide front line support for all information systems in the organization in the area of systems administration, planning, maintenance, and implementation of all application and equipment.
- Prepare reports and recommendations for the establishment and/or development of special programmes and information technology applications for the enhancement of the work of the MBCC;
- Develops, implements and manages Service Level Agreements (SLAs); Monitors the progress of support calls logged with vendors and ensure that vendors comply with the terms maintenance contracts and service level agreements
- Establish and monitor security procedures and practices on the network; to include responding to newly identified security threats
- Monitor inventory of all ICT equipment
- Provide “Help Desk Support” within agreed timescales to include fixing fix any network devices;
- Develop and implement equipment preventative maintenance programme
- Testing, troubleshooting of voice and data services coupled with routine network maintenance and backups
- Other related ICT duties as deemed necessary
REQUIRED COMPETENCIES

- Demonstrate proper knowledge and technique in the use and maintenance of desktop and laptop computers
- Demonstrate proper knowledge and technique in the use of Microsoft Windows software and Microsoft Office Suite
- Products, Basic Routing and Networking, Basic Server maintenance and Cabling
- Demonstrate proper knowledge and use of all procedures, techniques, machines, materials, equipment and tools used in technical construction and maintenance
- Must be able to work extended and/or irregular hours including nights, holidays and weekends as needed
- Maintain attitude of “do whatever it takes”
- Possess knowledge and experience in industry terminology, event-related services, facility capabilities and technical requirements for the types of events anticipated at the facility
- Possess an understanding of facility’s electrical, mechanical and other systems
- Maintain an effective working relationship with clients, employees, exhibitors, patrons and others encountered in the course of employment
- Read and comprehend blueprints, drawings and other related materials
- Follow oral and written instructions and communicate effectively with others in both oral and written form
QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor’s Degree in Information Technology or Computer Studies from an accredited four-year college or university and two (2) years related experience and/or training OR
- College diploma in the Information Systems field with minimum of four (4) years of full-time work related experience in the public assembly industry (stadiums, arenas, and/or convention centres).
