JOB PURPOSE

At the Montego Bay Convention Centre, our grounds are more than landscaping — they’re the backdrop where vision meets experience. Under the guidance of the Landscaping Supervisor, the Landscaping Attendant will ensure our property reflects the standard of excellence we are known for. This role involves the safe operation of professional landscaping equipment, the care of plant material, and the upkeep of outdoor spaces that welcome guests with distinction.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Operate mowers, edgers, trimmers, blowers, and other equipment with skill and safety
• Prune shrubs and trees to enhance health, shape, and visual appeal
• Plant, water, weed, mulch, and maintain flower beds and greenery
• Support landscape design, construction, and installation projects as needed
• Apply pesticides and manage weeds in accordance with safety standards
• Maintain a clean, inviting property by removing debris and managing waste
• Deliver attentive, courteous service to guests and colleagues on the grounds
• Perform other landscaping duties as assigned to uphold MBCC’s standards

REQUIRED COMPETENCIES

• Proficiency in the safe use of landscaping and maintenance equipment
• Knowledge of horticulture and basic pest management

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Minimum two (2) years’ experience in landscaping, gardening, or groundskeeping

SPECIAL CONDITIONS

This role requires physical stamina and a passion for working outdoors. The Landscaping Attendant should expect:

• Long hours, including weekends, as needed
• Indoor and outdoor duties in varying weather conditions
• Regular lifting of items exceeding 50 lbs
• Extended periods of walking or standing (8–14 hours daily)
• Potential exposure to noise, fumes, and chemicals (with safety protocols in place)
